New Zealand First leader, Winston Peters, has come out swinging at the new Green Party plan to nationalise the supermarket duopoly.

He says, “the Green Party stand for big communism like giving people food,” whereas “New Zealand First want sensible communism like keeping Kiwi money in Kiwi hands.”

The difference, he says, is paramount.

“A little bit of communism is fine. Like, when we can’t actually see it. When it’s with money it’s fine cause that’s abstract. We draw the line at feeding everyone as a minimum standard.”

When asked to define ‘communism’, Peters said “that depends who you ask’.

Green Party co-leader Marama Davidson hit back at Peters’ swing, saying “he is just upset he didn’t come up with it first.”
